Every Layer

" Every Layer "

by Suzán Jiván

Free adaptation
as creative imagination
taking a fateful shock to awaken
a namesake from every layer
of an older generation
as animated ubiquitous natures
at hurried paces without reservation
Brightening giants inviting
tucked-away bravery as mitigation
for the disarrangements
of the everyday
waxing and waning
along maudlin byways
More appealing having seen
dashing ability to adopt
aberrant generosity
toward all-star qualities
born of melancholic frailties
Beyond the jokes
either industrious or lucky
hooking up long-running
one liners like dot-to-dot improv
And the beat goes on
as a mythic comic
increasingly kvetchy
with percussive etiquette
sold out for the run
as the hit-packed essence
of escapist entertainment
mostly enervating
Rocking to raise the radiance
of a gaudy good time
by pioneering larger-than-life
entertainment as the shining
of the hyperactively flashy
much like midlife...
